Working in IT and living in Canterbury for nearly 20 years, he’d fallen out of training completely — avoiding the gym due to ongoing shoulder pain, arthritis in his knee, and a general feeling that exercise would only make things worse. On top of that, he was struggling with anxiety and depression, finding himself stuck in cycles that were difficult to break.
He knew he needed a fresh start, but the thought of walking into a busy, unstructured gym wasn’t appealing. What he needed was guidance, support, and an environment that felt safe and encouraging.
Since joining CTPT, Rob has seen meaningful change in every area of his life.
His shoulder feels better.
His knee feels better.
His body aches less and moves more freely.
But the biggest shift has been mental.
When he finds himself slipping into a negative headspace, one session at CTPT is enough to break the cycle — something he could never do on his own.
Training has become a reset button, helping him manage stress, feel clearer, and stay out of downward spirals.
He loves the structure of the sessions, the friendly atmosphere, and the fact he never has to guess what to do. The coaching provides direction, the environment provides support, and the community makes him feel welcomed every time he walks through the door. It’s become a genuinely positive part of his weekly routine — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
“Support, Structure, Stability.”
“Mentally I wasn’t in a great place. I struggled a lot with anxiety and depression, and physically I had pain in my shoulder and arthritis in my knee. I was avoiding training. Since joining CTPT, both my physical and mental health have improved massively. I’m less stressed, my pain has eased, and if I’m in a bad headspace, coming in for a session instantly helps break that cycle. The atmosphere is friendly, the structure is brilliant, and I never have to think about what to do — I just turn up and the guidance is there. It’s fantastic.”
